This could've been THE show for Indian streaming content to break out globally since Netflix was planning on a proper global release (they even released the teaser on global Netflix channels/pages). But as the release came closer, presumably due to the mediocre screenplay, they decided to release it without much global promotion.

After watching heeramandi i can say that Gangubai was solely carried by Alia's awesome acting prowess the she made everyone felt for her character, whereas in heeramandi i felt nothing for no one 🥲

I don't think its boaring. What do you expect from Movies based on tawaifs. Doing hip hops with a lot of English latka jhatka.? Revealing scenes? Delivering double meaning dialogues or doing action scenes like jawan pathan? Cumonn.... Grow up yaar. This is heeramandi lahore before 1947.. slow.. relaxed... urdu.. tehzeeb... Its not Your Mumbai High fie western bar or disco club...

If I have to get bored, I’ll better go and study

The love story was an important part of the series, but Sharmin's acting was just dead, with no expression, no depth, plus no beauty, she looked so stiff in those beautiful attires as compared to Aditi Rao who looked pynomenal and so graceful in this series.I wish they would have given Pratibha Ranta more screen time instead of Sharmin.

Re-launch of a niece😁 Itna Sach nhi bolna th🤐. Honestly she was the weakest part of the series. I think someone like wamiqa or tripti would be a great choice for this role.

The story is too gritty for SLB direction. It doesnt need beautiful visuals. SLB was out of his forte here

No one is saying this but waheeda and lajjo was a treat to watch, their acting was amazing and deserved more time but overall the series lost me at many point

It was Manisha, Sonakshi and Aditi's performance for me ❤ Sanjeeda sheikh was amazing too. I wish Richa Chaddha had more screen time. I think the acting was pretty good in general except the character of Alamzeb. But the writing was weak

Sharmin segal got most screentime , the best song - chaudhvi shab (even though her voice didn't match to shreya ghashal) and ample scope to perform ... still she managed to ruin it royally she said in an interview that she auditioned for this role ... how was she even selected?

When I watch this film, I automatically know that it belongs to Sanjay Lee Bhansali, who is rich with classic stories. I like the sexy and passionate scene between Allastair (Jason Shah) and Ustaadji, when Allastair tries to get Maalika's secrets from Ustaadji. Shirtless Jason Shah looks sexy, yummy, and handsome. Ustaadji’s style of caressing Allastair’s chest with his fingers and then moving to his mouth is very attractive and arousing. I automatically imagine that it is me with him at that moment, embracing his firm, muscular, and wet body after a bath. Sexy. Perhaps this scene could become even more arousing if Ustaadji were to massage, lick, and suck Allastair’s nipples before Allastair lifts him up and carries him into the room.

I am at 4th episode of the series. For me, first two episodes were dull. Richa Chadda's character adds nothing to the plot. I am skipping the love story of Taj and Alam. It's just boring and probably unnecessary. Manisha Koirala is an amazing actress but somehow she doesn't fit the role. I keep thinking how Rekha would have done it. By far I only liked Sonakshi. Aditi looks beautiful and she has the most humane character in the show but again she has nothing much to do. Sanjeeda is not bad though.

Jason Shah is the main attraction of this story. He is handsome, muscular, sexy, and robust, but his presence is the least highlighted in the story. There should be more emphasis on showcasing his enticing and delicious body. Look at how he seduces Ustaadji in the first episode, shirtless after his bath. I think that is a very interesting scene. Imagine a strong, muscular, fair-skinned, handsome man wearing only a towel and standing in front of you. It is an exhilarating experience. The scene between him and Ustaadji should have been extended and really shown a sexual relationship occurring. I think this is usual for reaching the international stage.

I feel like bhansali has just another level of passion towards glorifying prostitution which is quite visible in his filmography. Be it Hiramandi , Gangubai, Devdas and several others. Instead of showing the reality of their sufferings bhansali just shows their huge palace and every other privilege in his world they possess which is just far from reality

I just finished the whole series in one sitting. Loved the serious despite of few flaws. Acring wise i would love to recommended Fatto and Satto highly. Both of them were flawless. Manisha and Sonkashi were impeccable. Richa, Aditi and Sanjeeda were ok in their roles. My only problem was that why SLB chose Heeramandi story at the backdrop of Freedom movement. He should have invested more time around the stories of Heeramandi courtsien. There are lot of real stories of famous Heeramandi courtsiens connected to bollywood. When you are spending so much money on clothes and sets atleast SLB could speel some amount of money into stories of courtsiens. Overall it wasnt a bad experiences but left me with wanting more.

Every character was so interesting except Alamzeb who gets the most screen time. Maybe the actress portrayed character in one tone. OMG Sunakshi, Aditi and Manisha was powerhouse I wish Richa Chadda gave more screen time her character was more like Umrao Jan. Loved that scene when she laughed after her Mujra that was strange yet you completely understand that.

Just nothing is good about this ... Every scene feel like an advertisement for women ethnic wear

I am only watching snippets as I dont Have Netflix but from what I see....its just too artified, meaning it is crafted not really emerging. The snippet of Mallika Jaan shows her doing embroidery...why does she need a dramatic dialogue in the background? Just show what she has on the fabric and make it something that speaks for what she is....if I were to do it I would show her doing vagina as a piece of embroidery, she doesn't say anything but finishes the last stitch and kisses it. That would bring the character out in true sense and a visual that will etch itself in memory. Crafty dialogues are not effective ever!

Honeslty, ive never been a Fan of SLB's didection. I knew this series was boring. He is a great Music composer & great cinematographer but not a great director

I think the reason we hype SLB so much is because he's one of the few directors in the industry who actually puts effort into making his movies look visually appealing, there is absolutely a dearth of directors at least in Bollywood who can make aesthetically pleasing movies in the commercial market. While his cinematography, the set designs, colour blocking, lighting etc is absolutely impeccable and meticulous the same cannot be said about the plot of his movies. We as an audience are willing to look past it because of the visual feast. I truly think had heeramandi been a feature length film a lot of us wouldn't have noticed the insubstantial plot

I think SLB as a director would have failed if not for Deepika. Before that Sawariya bombed at the BO. Deepika’s star power and acting prowess is what made him relevant for so many years. Other than that only Devdas was a success for him, but that isn’t a original plot from him. Gangubai only barely broke even. But Ram Leela, Bajirao and Padmavat were blockbusters.

I personally loved the tragic love story but they could have shown it a bit more.
